Today I ran at the Sandy Creek Park.  I was looking for trail there, but only found small trails that went from campsites down to the lake.  I ended up following a dried up cove of the lake up a dry creek bed for a mile or so until it came out on Lime Creek road, which I followed back to the park.  On the way home I saw what looked like a large, close meteor come down.  It was very bright and burning and trailing black smoke.  It broke apart on the way down and each of the pieces was burning as they fell.  I don't know how close it was or if it struck the ground.  It was probably much further away than it looked but it was the best meteor I've ever seen.

Today was my first day back after a week in Minneapolis and this morning we had to take Abbie to the vet and have her put to sleep.  She had developed a large tumor on her spleen and was bleeding internally in it and becoming more anemic every day.  Even with surgery and chemotherapy the prognosis was only going to be 2 months, and it wouldn't have been a good 2 months.  For years she had gone trail running with me every day up until the past couple of years when she got too old. Today I ran a figure 8 loop on the trails in Steiner Ranch while Lori walked Maggie on one lobe of the route.
